Why this place exists

Heavy equipment is expensive to buy, expensive to run and ruinously expensive to guess about. A wrong diagnosis on a final drive is a five-figure mistake. Forum Heavy Spot exists so the person about to make that mistake can ask someone who already made it.

Who posts here

Owner operators, fleet mechanics, site supervisors, crane operators and a fair number of people who bought one machine and are learning fast. Manufacturer-agnostic and dealer-independent — we are not affiliated with any equipment maker or dealership.

How it is moderated

Volunteer moderators drawn from long-standing members. The rules are short: no abuse, no spam, no passing off advertising as advice, and do not give safety advice you are not qualified to give. Rigging and lift planning threads get particular attention for that last reason.

Dealer reviews

Members review the dealers they actually buy and service through. Every review is checked by a human before it appears, and reviews cannot be posted anonymously — see dealer reviews for the current list.
