We moved off a limestone pit onto a granite one in June. Same loader, same operators, same brand of teeth. We were getting roughly 700 hours a set and now we are lucky to see 350.

I expected some drop-off but not half. Is this just what granite does, or should I be looking at a different tooth profile for abrasion rather than penetration?

That is about right for granite honestly. Penetration teeth in abrasive rock wear off the sides rather than blunting the tip, so you lose them fast.

Switch to a heavy abrasion profile and pair it with sidebar protectors. You will give up a little breakout but you should land back near 600 hours.
